About us

Like many Steve, our founder, spent the long days of a global pandemic looking for something to fill his newly found free time. He found solace in the workshop he had built himself in his garage, looked around at the raw materials that he had available and his imagination got to work.

His dream had always been to build guitars - but not just any guitars. He wanted any guitar that he built to represent himself - quirky, individual and far from run of the mill.  He also wanted to make his guitars out of existing materials which would not only ensure an attainable price point for beginners but also not add to the growing environmental crisis.

Over the next few years Steve began to build guitars by hand for friends and for fun. He uses any type of wood that he can get his hands on, from an old fence post to skirting boards that he finds or which are donated.  He describes his material as any wood that would normally be thrown into the fire - or fire wood. He finds inspiration in the individuality of each piece of raw material and a new guitar is born.  Each guitar has its own personality and will not be repeated.  The raw material is not perfect and so the design of the guitar will work around any natural "imperfection" resulting in a unique and organic instrument that is the antithesis of a cookie cutter model. Hence Firewood Guitars was born - Perfectly Imperfect!!
